Description
Chavant CM-70 Industrial Hard Styling Clay is used most often by product designers seeking to create automotive, marine, aerospace and consumer product models.Fine art sculptors use Chavant CM-70 for fine detail work, when a firmer clay body is needed or if they want to incorporate various shapes typically seen in transportation design into the sculpt.
At room temperature, Chavant CM-70 Industrial Hard Styling Clay is very firm, but can be shaped with modeling tools or templates.
Because of its firm consistency at room temp, CM-70 is perfect for studios with a desire to machine the clay.
When warmed to 145 degrees F—a temp that starts to feel hot to the user’s hands—CM-70 will accept developed template shapes.
The surfaces and corners of CM-70 can be smoothed by hand at room temp, although plasticity is noticeably reduced.
CM-70 is a sulfur based clay that possesses excellent qualities of adhesion, cohesion, and consistency.
CM-70 Industrial Hard Styling Clay can be carved, extruded and slicked to an exceptionally smooth finish.
Handling Tips:
CM-70 is typically warmed to its softening point before being applied to an armature.
Be careful not to burn the clay while warming.
