Description
Nice High Quality Vintage Wooden Fly Fishing Reel Case with Key (and built-in lock). It was manufactured by the former Eagle Lock Company of Terryville, Connecticut. The Eagle Lock Co. was established in 1833 and closed in 1975. At one time it was the largest trunk and cabinet lock maker in the world (it also made high quality security grade padlocks). The case is made of a hard wood (maybe walnut???) and is padded with nice cushioned sponge inside. The wood corners of the case are nicely put together with finger joints. The outside of the case measures 4.75 inches long x 4.75 inches wide x 3.5 inches tall. The inside of the case measures 4 inches x 4 inches x 2 inches high. It is designed to hold a fly fishing reel that measures no more than 4 inches in diameter and up to 2 inches wide (including the handle knob). The contents include a stamped Eagle Lock Company key (picture #12) and an L shaped Allen Wrench that fits in a special drilled slot hole inside the case (see pictures 7, 8 & 9). The original owner of the case kept his rare gold plated antique fly reel (worth big bucks) stored in the case. Carefully check out the 12 pictures that are provided so that you know what you are bidding on and to evaluate condition. Picture # 9 shows how my 1950's Edwards Fly Reel (4 inches diameter) fits nicely in the case. THE REEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION. You are bidding on: 1 empty wooden reel case, 1 key, and 1 L shaped Allen wrench). The ruler in pictures #1 and #8 was used for sizing purposes and is not part of the auction.Shipping by US Postal Priority Mail to USA addresses only (no international bidding); Shipping weight will be about 2 pounds: Winning bidder must make payment within 48 hours of the end of the auction.
